New Agriculture Subsidy 2024: Direct Income Support for Small-Scale Farmers
The Government of Tamil Nadu today announced a comprehensive expansion of the existing agricultural subsidy scheme, aiming to benefit over 2.5 million farmers across all districts.
Under the new 2024 framework, eligible small and marginal farmers will receive an increased direct cash transfer to assist with pre-harvest expenses. The scheme specifically prioritizes sustainable farming practices, providing an additional 15% incentive for those adopting organic farming or water-efficient micro-irrigation systems.
Key highlights include:
- Direct benefit transfer (DBT) of ₹12,000 per year for qualifying families.
- 50% subsidy on high-yield climate-resilient seeds.
- Interest-free loans for the purchase of localized farming tools.
Applications will be accepted starting November 15th through the unified "Uzhavan" app and at all regional agricultural cooperative societies.
